To turn off the sound when you receive or send a message you need to go to notification sounds. To turn them on or off take the following steps:
- Open WhatsApp
- Menu -> Settings -> Messages -> Notifications
- Uncheck the box to turn off the sound. Check the box to turn on the sound.Remember that adjusting the settings for notification sounds adjusts the sound for both incoming and outgoing messages.

Well – now i generated a small empty sound file and replaced the sounds.
I guess it’s not in the interest of facebook for me to not pay attention to whatsapp 24/7.
